About us

The goal of Nalu-Surf:

The goal of Nalu-Surf is to showcase, to promote and to bring the joy of beach acrobatics and grace of traditional Hawaiian surfing to the public at large – especially tandem surfing in a friendly and family oriented manner, supporting one another, with tolerance and respect for the Ocean and other surfers (spirit of Aloha and Ohana). We'll endeavour to achieve this goal thanks to shows, workshops, meetings and through the organization of cultural, charitable, artistic and sport oriented events. Nalu-Surf also has the goal to help all of those who believe surfing is unaccessible to them, whereas their difficulties are due to a physical handical, financial hardship or any other cirumpstances.

Team:

Fred Branger, 39 years of age, has been surfing for over 30 years, 10 of which he has spent travelling the world. A former professional lifeguard and surf instructor, very experienced and well trained, he can juggle with all type of surf equipment. Once a competitive shortboarder in the US university circuit and competitive longboarder for the prestigious Coalition Of Surfing Club Contest in California, representing the Swami's Surf Club, 2 times winner of the World Bodysurfing Championchip, big wave rider and a very skilled rider of retro and beach boy style big boards, he has earned its reputation over the last 5 years as a tandem surfer. An Art of surfing he began while studying in California with an ice skating friend, Valerie Duprat, with whom he became one of the best couple in the world.

Back in france in October 2006, he has crossed path with Aurelie, now his wife. She too is a passionated surfer, snowboarder and skateboarder and, as a former gymnast she has loved tandem surfing at once and excelled at it in no time. Aurelie has extensive experience in event management, including the creation and 5 years presidency of "Proximart," an organization famous for having popularized the concept of outdoor art shows along the Garonne river promenade in Toulouse. As an active member of the "Glisse & Respecte" organization (French Pyrenees), she took part of the "Waterslide des Angles", and she created events such as "Floconade" and "Ecolo-ziques" in 2005 and 2006. It is therefore with great pleasure and motivation that she resumes service as the president of Nalu, which was a non-profit organization at this time. A graphic and web designer by trade, she puts her professional skills to work to insure top notch communication for all of Nalu's action.
Fred and Aurelie moved to Australia in 2008 and they enjoy surfing the beautiful waves of Sunshine Coast everyday with their little boys Lockie and Elliot.

In August 2011 they took part in the Duke Festival in Hawaii, competing at Queen's against the best couples of the world. They managed to get a third place.

Fred won the 2012 Finless division at the Noosa Festival of Surfing, riding a beautiful traditionnal wooden homemade surfcraft: the Alaia.
